Lessons learned from being robbed

-Sentry fireproof safes can be popped open with a screw driver with what appears to have been relatively little effort
-Write down the serial number of your laptop - apparently that's the best way to catch the thief
-If you have your passwords written down Hide Them WELL!!!!  It's true, they really do dig through your sock drawer.  Luckily they did not find mine (which were not in my sock drawer) which were in another locked area, but I was panicked until I found it safe.
-Go buy dowel rods, or some other item to put in any of your slider windows.  That's how they got in my house.  Not sure if the dowel rod would have helped, but definitely wouldn't have hurt
-Take pictures of the jewelry you love.  I have pictures of the valuable items (monetarily speaking) but nothing of the items that are the most important to me and truly the only pieces that I want back.
-Password protect your computer so it requires a password at start up to even get to your desktop.  Sadly, I did not do this.  Hopefully they are just looking to pawn it and are not criminal masterminds.
-Get an external hard drive so you can back up your data.  Luckily, I did do this and they didn't steal it.
-Password protect your thumbdrives
-Take pictures of the receipts of your purchases.  It's a pain to save paper receipts, but a picture is quick and easy.
-Get an alarm system, seriously, just get one.

Hmmmm, perhaps I have enough gizmos?

I'm going on a 5 day trip and will be taking the following electronics:
  • laptop & power supply (work)
  • iPhone & charger (work)
  • Moto Droid & charger
  • Garmin Forerunner & charger
  • Garmin Nuvi, window mount & charger
  • Nook & charger

My question is WHY WHY WHY do these all have to have their very own unique charger. Ridiculous!

(Also, I hate these goofy flower bullets but for some reason can't change them even with the type="disc" attribute. So you'll just have to pretend they are discs vice flowers.)

Reasons to not use a garmin "workout" when racing

1- exact distance may not get you to the finish line. Ie my garmin said 13.22 at the finish. Had I been using a workout it would have ended before I crossed the finish line. I think this distance variation has to do with the official distance being based on always running on the inside of every turn.....maybe.
2- not sure how a workout would "react" when I lost signal in the tunnel
3- I think the "lap pace" alert at the end of each mile is more meaningful than the "workout" slow down and speed up alerts every time you are out of your target range especially because you inevitability are much slower during water stations
I still love my 405cx. It helped me shave 16 minutes off my half time. Now let's see if I can take another 16 minutes off!
